How do you give back to others?

Businesses have a moral responsibility to give back to others beyond just a paycheck to their employees. It’s important to create a culture in your company-organization that looks for ways to give. Many think about children in a far away country and yes this is very important if you feel led to give to orphanages, dig wells, send medical clinics, etc.

But what about first start in your own business? Yes, that’s right. Did you know that the Bible says you are to help the family of believers first. (Galatians 6:10 says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”)

Many times we think that we only help those of faith or household of believers in our local church setting. But what about those who are in your company that you work with day in and day out, that could use an extra hand? Especially for those who have children at home and they are a single parent home. Or, they have a major sickness or financial hardship that came along their path. Your company could create a benevolent fund or a Christmas fund, etc.

Next, you could look for ways to reach out to your local community or marketplace. Here is another principle that could be at work in your company and model in front of your employees, vendors, clients, etc. Give and it will be given back to you. (Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”) You could even state how out of every dollar the company earns, so much percentage is going for ABC cause or non-profit to help.

And finally I want you to even think about beyond because of another principle that could be at work. We think of this mostly about sharing a message of the Gospel. And what does the Gospel mean? Good News. What better news than to help meet a need first before you share a message. Don’t we do that in our business when we are looking to generate new customers, clients or patients? Yes, it’s called a lead generation where we offer a “freeium” to taste what we have to offer and give an immediate solution through the value we gave. Well we can do this to through giving financial resources or other support type resources in third world nations that could use your blessings. (Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere–in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”)

So how do you give to others? I want you to begin to think of ways you can cultivate in your organization and work from homebase to the outer most parts of the world.
